Mistakes, regarding to archery:
- The fistmele (or brace height) of this bow is two times bigger than it should. It should not go to the elbow, only half way there.
- The arrow is once again on the wrong side of the bow. It's also not on the bow gripping fist as it should, but at the side of it.
- This is not a proper grip of an arrow. The fletching is located too back the arrow so that the gripping hand touches it. Wrong all the way.
- The string is not attached to the bow in any method. It just appears under some blue thing, which might be ice, or magic crystal or some other stupid thing.
- What is this bow made of anyway? It the brown thing is wood, then this is very very badly made bow which could break in any moment. And whatever the blue material is, it's not doing any good for the bow. Stick to real materials please.
- Where are the rest of her arrows? No quiver anywhere to be seen.
Good:
Absolutely nothing. I should really stop this "good"-category altogether, since in these pictures, there aren't any of it.
To be fair though, the idea of the arrow always going on the left side of the bow (for right-handers) is a relatively modern idea. It could be that that technique hasn't yet been formalized in whatever fantasy world she comes from. There are ancient paintings depicting archers holding the arrow on the side she has it on. Other than that though, I totally agree.
ReplyDeleteI know this blog's purpouse is to comment on archery and bow technique on media, but have you never considered neither the artist or his public is not so concerned with this? I mean... I could make a blog concerning all the crappy layouts some blogs have and include this one there - but it would not be of importance for your final objective. That's the point.
ReplyDeleteI'm exactly trying to get the artists and the public to be more concerned about archery here. That's the whole point!
